International actors are bound by certain rules and principles in their interactions with one another. This course focuses on the creation, enforcement, and political implications of those rules and principles, collectively known as international law. Toward that end, we’ll explore what comprises international law, how it’s interpreted and applied by relevant actors, and its symbiotic relationship with politics. We'll also examine specific topics including treaties, jurisdiction, international organizations, diplomacy, human rights, the environment, the use of force, and the global economy.
